My husband and I were discussing the trend of getting tattoos in Japanese symbols, and he mentioned that there is no symbol for his name. He then went on to say that there are in fact no symbols at all for English names. I said that the names would have to be written out in several symbols according to the Japanese alphabet, and he said that couldn't even be done because the English alphabet can't be translated into Japanese symbols.
